How Laser Therapy to Quit Smoking Works (LLLT)
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is the application of a “cold” pure laser to treat certain conditions. It has been used to successfully treat many kinds of muscoskeletal injuries because it promotes healing and tissue repair. Laser therapy is quickly becoming the most popular therapy for quitting smoking because there are no side effects and the treatment is immediate, no need to wait for months like some patches and pills that are currently prescribed. This therapy has been used in Europe and Canada for over 30 years and is now being introduced in the United States. We have used it to help people quit smoking in Orlando for 8 years.
When you smoke a cigarette, natural chemicals in your body, called endorphins, immediately signal your brain to make you think you feel better. Nicotine addiction alters the normal endorphin cycle in your body so you have a hard time feeling good without the use of nicotine, whether it is from cigarettes, dip, chew, cigars or pipes. As you know, the effects of nicotine wear off quickly (usually 1 to 2 hours). As time goes by, endorphin levels in your body drop far below normal, and you begin to feel extremely irritable, upset, stressed, fatigued, and anxious for another cigarette. After you inhale again, endorphin levels are raised back up to a point where you feel better. This continues on and on and on in a never ending cycle. This is your nicotine addiction and this is why it is difficult to quit smoking or dipping.
Just as cigarettes raise endorphin levels in your body to make you feel relaxed, so does Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). By naturally elevating levels of endorphins, laser therapy allows you to eliminate nicotine from your body while avoiding the cravings, stress, and irritability most commonly associated with withdrawal. The difference between cigarettes and laser treatment is the laser naturally stimulates your cells to release endorphins over a much longer period of time – 3 to 5 days versus 1 to 2 HOURS for a cigarette. It takes between three to five days to allow nicotine to leave your body completely. Healing Laser Clinics offers 2 treatments to alleviate the nicotine cravings and to help you to quit smoking, naturally and easily. Our Orlando and Lake Mary treatment centers can discuss these nicotine symptoms in further detail with a complimentary visit to either quit smoking laser clinic.
You can quit smoking with laser therapy
After 4 to 5 days have passed, you have successfully eliminated nicotine from your body. From that point, your mental battle with your addiction will become the challenge. This is where the mental triggers that we discuss with you will be pertinent to your success. Our professional consultants will be there to answer any calls that you may have regarding your nicotine triggers, proper eating or detoxification and help you through the process.
Low Level Laser Therapy is currently approved by the FDA to treat carpal tunnel syndrome and is now being reviewed by the FDA to determine it’s effectiveness for treating smoking addiction. Investigating it’s effectives to help people stop smoking by promoting the release of endorphins in the body (Endorphins are natural chemicals in your body that reduce stress and increase energy).
During a low level laser session, the cold laser is pointed at specific locations on your ears, face, hands and wrist. You may feel a slight tingling sensation, but most clients feel a calm sensation or absolutely nothing at all. It typically only takes 1 treatment to end your smoking addiction but we offer 2 treatments if needed. You will find that after the therapy, you will be extremely calm and sleep better for the next few nights.
